A man who told police his regular trips to a town were to visit his favourite takeaway was in fact pedalling crack cocaine and heroin.

Turren Howell said he went from Medway to Snodland to pick up from the fast food restaurant - but police proved that it was closed when he claimed to be visiting.

Accomplice Raheen Taylor, 25, had been previously arrested on May13, 2020, after he was stopped by police while riding a moped down Cemetery Road, Snodland.

When searched, police found two phones, £60 in cash and 26 deals of crack cocaine and heroin, which he said he was told to drop off somewhere.

At his home in Mitcham, on Lindsey Close, Surrey, officers found a set of electronic scales.

Further investigations discovered that Taylor kept in regular contact with Howell to arrange the transfer of drug supplies.

Howell travelled from his house in Razorbill Close, Rochester to meet Taylor in Snodland to arrange drop-offs.

He was arrested September 17. He claimed he visited Snodland to go to a fast food restaurant but officers were able to show it was closed on the days he travelled to the town.

Both men were charged with possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin.

They both pleaded not guilty but were convicted after a six-day trial at Maidstone Crown Court.

On Thursday March 17, Howell was jailed for four years and Taylor received a two year suspended sentence.

DCI Matt Talboys said: "These two dealers sought to ply their criminal trade whilst remaining anonymous through the use of mobile phones.

"This proved to be their downfall and the organised supply network was revealed once their phones were examined by our investigators.

"Our dedicated officers will continue to target and bring to justice those who distribute class A drugs and bring misery to users and the wider community."
