Four men have been charged with trying to siphon fuel from lorries in west Kent.
Police received calls between midnight and 1.35am on Saturday from HGV drivers parked near Detling and Leybourne, alleging people were tampering with the fuel caps on other vehicles.
Following a search, officers found two suspicious lorries travelling along the A228 near Snodland.
The vehicles were stopped and, when they were inspected, were found to have suspected siphoning equipment under their cabs.
Each cab had two occupants and all four were arrested and taken into custody.
Alin-ionel Constantin, Mihai-madalin Anton, George-Mihata Misca and Florin-bogdan Perdut, all of no fixed address, were charged with interference with a motor vehicle and possessing articles for use in the course of theft.
Constantin, 37, Anton, 24, Misca, 26; and Predut, 27, appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday, where they were bailed to a hearing at the same court on August 12.
