A fire which destroyed two wheelie bins, a garden shed and a wooded gate in Kings Hill was caused by a discarded cigarette butt, fire crews say.
The blaze broke out on Glenton Avenue just after 2am this morning.
Two engines attended and crews used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.
It's believed the fire was caused accidentally when a cigarette butt was thrown on top of a disused mattress. Two Wheelie bins caught alight before spreading to a small garden shed and a wooded gate.
Nobody was injured.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service is reminding people who smoke to make sure cigarettes, cigars and pipes are always fully out before discarding them, and to do so carefully.
It added never leave lit smoking materials unattended and only use a proper, heavy ashtray which can't easily tip over.
