Work to replace a footbridge will close the M20 this weekend.

Two months after Teapot Lane footbridge in Aylesford was removed, a new steel structure is set to take its place.

Ahead of the closure, from 10pm today until 6am on Monday, we've rounded up some of the key facts about the new bridge.

A team of 20 people at Nusteel Structures have built the new structure in Lympne, Hythe, 30 miles away from Teapot Lane.

In the early hours of Saturday morning, the new bridge will be transported 30 miles to Teapot Lane.

The new steel bridge will be carried in three parts, with the longest section stretching to 32m.

Altogether the bridge weighs 45 tonnes, equivalent to nine hippos.

Building work on the new bridge took six weeks.

Specialists in building steel bridges, Nusteel Structures are also building another bridge further up the M20 at the new junction 10a, near Ashford.
