A motorcyclist was found lying in the central reservation, an inquest heard.

Stephen Chapman had been travelling along the A20 near Wrotham when he was involved in a collision.

The 53-year-old came off his metallic-coloured Kawasaki ZX 600 bike on the trunk road which links to junction 2a of the M26, and despite CPR attempts by paramedics and police officers, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The court heard the Northfleet man was a chiropodist, and was married. A post-mortem gave his cause of death as hypovolemic shock, a condition resulting from major blood loss.

Geoffrey Smith, assistant coroner for North West Kent, adjourned the full inquest to a future date.
