A new McDonald's has opened in Kent.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the the Snodland branch, alongside the A228 Holborough Road, yesterday, with MP Tracey Crouch doing the honours.

The diner, which has created around 100 full and part-time jobs, started serving customers last week, on Wednesday June 2.

Franchisee Paul Crocker, who owns and operates 19 restaurants across the county, said: "We are delighted to be opening a new restaurant in Snodland, bringing additional jobs to the town.

"As a business we are passionate about the communities we serve in and we look forward to playing our part as a good neighbour in Snodland.

"We’d like to thank all of our customers in advance for their support and patience as we operate safely.”

The new fast-food branch will include self-service kiosks and the My McDonald’s App will be available to use at the restaurant, allowing customers to order and pay for their meal ahead of time.

The app sends a notification to the kitchen as soon as customers are within 100m of the restaurant, meaning all orders are prepared fresh on arrival, the organisation says.

In early 2020, McDonald’s closed its UK and Ireland restaurants as the country faced the start of the Covid-19 crisis.

The company says that safety measures have been put in place to help keep staff safe, including Perspex screens, temperature checks at the start of each shift, maintaining a two metre distance from others as much as possible, face coverings, regular hand washing and the use of hand sanitiser.
