A much-loved 90-year-old fell into the road before being run over by a car, an inquest has heard.
Michael Humphreys, of New Hythe Lane, Larkfield, Aylesford, was trying to cross the road near the Bricklayer’s Arms on January 4 when he fell.
At around 8.40pm, an oncoming car stopped to help the elderly man before a second car drove around the stationary vehicle and collided with Mr Humphreys.
Coroner Catherine Wood told an inquest on Tuesday the Ditton-born man’s cause of death was given as crush injuries to the chest and head injuries.
The two vehicles involved were a white Fiat Ducato and a silver BMW car.
The Bricklayer's Arms said Mr Humphreys, who was known as 10 o'clock Mick as he arrived at 10pm on the dot most days, would be "deeply missed".
He had been drinking at the pub for a number of years as the rest of his family lives in the Isle of Wight.
Sharing a picture of the regular on Facebook, the pub said: "For those that do not know, the terrible accident which happened on January 4 outside the pub involving an elderly gentleman and a van was our very own Mick, who many know him by 10 o’clock Mick.
"Mick’s funeral will be at Vinters Park crematorium at 2.45pm on Friday, February 24, for anyone who would like to pay their respects.
"On Thursday, February 23, we will be hosting drinks that evening for those who can't make Mick’s funeral, to honour his life and to share pictures and stories.
"RIP Mick. We are all deeply saddened to what has happened. You will be deeply missed from everyone down the Brick. Our condolences to Mick’s family."
Magda Kalinowska added: "Such a lovely man. RIP Mick. We will always remember you for your appearance at 10 o’clock for a pint of ale and your smile which made everyone smile around you."
While Kim Barltrop said: "RIP Mick you wonderful, gentle soul. Hope you're getting the pints in with Rod and putting the world to rights like you always did.
"You were loved by us all at the Brick and will be missed terribly."
Theresa Perrin added: "My absolute favourite customer ever. So, so sad. Such a lovely man. Rest in peace Mick – always missed."
Mr Humphreys was a former paper mill worker and was widowed to Eileen Margaret Humphreys.
The inquest was adjourned to be heard in full at a later date.
Police are still investigating the death and no arrests or charges have been made.
