Police are searching for people missing from an overturned car.

Officers received reports of the crash in Seven Mile Lane, Mereworth, just after 6am.

The passengers of the car were not at the scene when emergency services arrived.

The police helicopter helped in the search for the missing people, but nobody has been found.

A road closure was put in place while the vehicle was recovered, and one lane reopened at 7.20am.

Delays remained in the area as the whole road did not reopen until just before 9am.

Enquiries into this incident are ongoing.
