A woman in her 80s has had cash and gold jewellery "of great sentimental value" stolen by a thief posing as a police officer.

Police have now released a computer generated image of the man who targeted the woman at her home in Borough Green.

He knocked on his victim's door in Annetts Hall claiming to be a police office at around 8.30pm on Sunday, September 1.

He showed her a fake identification card and told her there was a crime happening at the back of her property.

The pensioner allowed him inside where he stole gold jewellery and cash.

Detectives are now appealing for the public's help to track down the suspect.

He is Asian, softly spoken, of medium build with black hair and cleanly shaven.

At the time of the crime he was wearing jeans, a blue or grey top and a black leather jacket with orange gardening gloves.

Det Const Celia King said: "This burglary has had a devastating impact on the elderly victim. The jewellery stolen was of great sentimental value to her and we hope that someone can help us find the offender.

"As part of our enquiries, we have issued an e-fit and would like to identify the man pictured."
