A pub has reopened after undergoing a six-figure refurb.

The Wateringbury in Tonbridge Road, Wateringbury, near Maidstone has been shut for a month during the renovations.

In July, KentOnline reported Greene King was investing in a facelift for the 90-year-old pub.

After extensive work, it reopened its doors to customers on Monday with a modern new look.

There has been a complete overhaul of the inside with new decor, furnishings and artwork.

The outside dining area has been expanded with the addition of heaters, comfy seating and extra covered areas.

As well as its physical transformation, the pub will now be serving a new Chef & Brewer’s menu.

General manager Carrie Manfield said: “The refurbishments have enhanced the cosy, country pub feel while bringing it into modern times and expanding our offering, which we have no doubt guests will enjoy.

“The site is very popular with the people of Wateringbury and stands at the heart of our community, so we are thrilled to be able to welcome people back and hopefully see some new faces as well as familiar ones we have missed.”

KentOnline has asked how much the transformation cost but the company will only say it has invested a six-figure sum.

The Wateringbury is open from 7am to 11pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 11pm on Saturdays and 8am to 10.30pm on Sundays.
