Part of Kings Hill is the download capital of Kent, with the second fastest broadband speeds in the country.

A national survey has shown Redwell Grove has an average download speed of 178.385 megabits per second (Mbps)

The speedy broadband means some films could be downloaded in around a minute.

Tonbridge and Malling MP Tom Tugendhat has called for more improvements in his constituency.

He said: "I'm delighted that Kings Hill is finally making progress in becoming one of the faster places to access broadband.

"For a number of years I’ve been calling for action from operators, and have worked with Openreach and other providers to increase speeds across our community.

"It’s great that residents in Redwell Grove are able to benefit from this, and I will keep working to see if other roads in Kings Hill can achieve significantly quicker speeds as soon as possible."

Steven Herring lives in Redwell Grove with his wife and two children.

He said: "When we first moved to Kings Hill in 1997 I would say the general service was pretty bad, it seems there was a lack of planning in that regard.

"We moved in to this home in 2004. The speed at that stage wasn't great, I would say within a couple of years it started to improve.

"A year or so ago we joined fibre to the house, we've never had an interruption since, generally we're very pleased with the service."

Some Sittingbourne residents may be riding high on a digital wave too, as Feldspar Close has download speeds of 141.451Mbps.

Dani Warner, broadband expert at uSwitch.com, which carried out the survey, said: "For households struggling on sluggish internet connections, it’s worth having a look at a coverage map to give you, at a glance, an overview of the sort of services that are available at your address.

"If your current broadband doesn’t stack up to what other providers can give you, it might be worth thinking about switching."

The survey looked at the top and worst areas in the UK for speeds. Topping the table for the fastest was a street in Birmingham with a connection of 265.891 megabits per second.

Worst in the UK is Bamfurlong in Cambridge with a speed of just 0.14 Mbps, meaning it would take 102 hours to download a two-hour HD film on Netflix.
