An Aylesford primary school has jumped a grade following its latest Ofsted visit.

St Peter’s Primary School, in Mount Pleasant, has been deemed good by the school watchdog’s latest report, which was published on Wednesday.

A previous inspection conducted in January 2013 found it required improvement and two follow-up visits were made to check on progress.

In particular the inspectors praised the leadership of new head teacher Nicola Craig, who has been in the role since January, and the support given to her by the school’s governors.

They also found that progress for pupils has increased greatly, especially in reading and maths where standards in year six are above the national average.
