A man has died after the car he was in crashed into another vehicle while travelling the wrong way down the M20.
The driver, a 37-year-old man from Orpington, has been arrested on suspicion of causing his passenger's death.
Detectives now want to hear from witnesses or anyone who may have captured dashcam footage of the smash.
Police, paramedics and firefighters were called at 3.35am, but the victim, who was 32 and from London, died at the scene.
Police say the grey Toyota Corolla was travelling on the wrong side of the carriageway when it collided with a black Volkswagen Touareg.
The Toyota driver is being questioned on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
The motorway was shut London-bound between Junction 4 for West Malling, Rochester and Tonbridge and Junction 3 for Sevenoaks.
Police helped release vehicles caught in the long tail-backs.
It reopened just before 10am.
The arrested man has been bailed, pending further enquires, until June 12.
Officers want to speak with anyone who saw the Corolla in the moments leading up to the crash, or who may have dashcam footage.
