Drivers were urged to slow down and take care following reports of people walking along a motorway.

It happened on the coast-bound lane of the M20 between J4 A228 (for Leybourne and Snodland) and J5 with the A20 for Aylesford.

The alert was issued by Kent Highways.

It is understood a broken down vehicle is responsible for the danger and authorities said the road cleared at around 12.45pm.
