Hadlow death: Neighbours 'gutted' after alleged murder of Tonbridge's Lee Eldred outside Hadlow Manor Hotel

Neighbours say they are "gutted" after the alleged murder of a man in Hadlow last week.

Lee Eldred, 36, died on the A26 near Hadlow Manor Hotel on Friday, after reportedly suffering a cardiac arrest.

The Tonbridge resident's brother Carl Eldred appeared at Medway Magistrates Court earlier today charged with his murder.

One neighbour of Lee Eldred's family said: "I'm really shocked to hear what has happened and gutted for the family.

Another commented: "They have lived here as long as I can remember.

"They are a really lovely family and really lovely boys it is very upsetting."

Police were called out to the A26 after an incident inside a vehicle travelling along the road.

Paramedics confirmed they were called to a report of cardiac arrest and Mr Eldred was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident is believed to have happened near The Hadlow Manor Hotel (6248764)

A Secamb spokesman said: "We responded with a car and ambulance to a report of a cardiac arrest in a vehicle outside the Hadlow Manor Hotel.

"The air ambulance also sent their response car. Despite all efforts the patient was sadly declared deceased at the scene."

Carl Eldred, 33, of Little Footway, Langton Green, Tunbridge Wells, has been remanded in custody and will appear at Maidstone Crown Court on January 3.

A man who died by a roadside was allegedly murdered by his brother.

Lee John Robert Eldred has been named for the first time after his sibling Carl Eldred, 33, appeared at Medway Magistrates Court this morning.

Mr Eldred, from Tonbridge, was pronounced dead at the roadside in Hadlow last Friday after an incident took place inside a vehicle.

His brother was arrested at the scene and has been charged with murder.

Standing in the dock wearing a grey jumper and blue jeans, Carl Eldred spoke only to confirm his name and nationality as British.

The Little Footway, Langton Green, Tunbridge Wells, resident will appear at Maidstone Crown Court on January 3.

Police were called out to an incident near Hadlow Manor Hotel, at around 10.30pm last Friday.

A police spokesman said: "The incident happened inside a vehicle and the man was treated at the roadside by the South East Coast Ambulance Service before being declared deceased."
