A van was severely damaged by fire in East Peckham this morning.

The incident happened in Church Lane, at its junction with Hale Street at just before 10.30am.

It was 50% damaged by fire and the driver, a man in his 20s, was treated at the scene for the effects of breathing in smoke.

Police and KCC highways are currently at the scene to remove the vehicle as it is blocking a bus route.
