It comes after gas company SGN confirmed it had completed its repairs on the road, but said it needed to carry out further work to abandon some old gas mains.

Earlier in the month, tthe closure caused chaos after the leak clashed with planned water works.

The crossroads in Wateringbury have now been undergoing work since May 29, marking two weeks of chaos for road users.
