A 12-year-old girl has scolded “disgusting” Boris Johnson for his partygate actions in a letter to Number 10.

Anne-Marie Gilbert, of Birling, West Malling, slammed the PM for partying while she and a handful of her family cried at her uncle’s funeral last year.

She slammed his handling of the Covid-19 pandemic and said she was “ashamed” he was leading the UK.

It comes after Sue Gray’s report into lockdown breaches in Parliament criticised Mr Johnson and others for attending parties while the rest of the country were following restrictions.

“Dear Boris Johnson, I hope this finds you well,” the letter started.

“My name is Anne-Marie and I am 12 years old. I hope you really read this and take each word to heart and consider it.

“So, over the past two years, as we all know, Covid-19 came, where you set the country lots of restrictions.

“Probably not enough from the evidence that some other countries had barely any cases, but that’s besides the point.

“You were saying we must stay at home, stay two metres apart, wash our hands while singing Happy Birthday, hands-face-space etc.

“You were also closing lots of schools, so young people like me weren’t getting education for a whole year.

“This led to me not getting my 11+ and having to explore different options, so I could get education back in my life.

“In 2020 my only uncle died, very sadly from Covid-19.

“My family of four and his room mate were the only ones allowed to attend his funeral, as was the case for the rest of the UK.

“I feel so disgusted that you, my friend, were partying while I was crying.”

Anne-Marie went on to tell the PM she decided to write to him after seeing a mum on Good Morning Britain describe how she lost her 14-year-old during the pandemic and she was the only one allowed to bury him.

'If you had any decency you would resign...'

She added: “And while this was happening, you were opening a bottle of Prosecco.

“I feel simply ashamed that in my country you are the leader. A man who cannot stick to his own rules and then lies about it when he is caught.

“If you had any decency you would resign. You’ve had your time, stuffed it up, now everyone with common sense is telling you to go. Just go.

“There are no words to describe people’s sadness. Please, please, please read this letter and hear what I’m saying.”

The letter was sent on Thursday, May 26, and there has been no reply yet.

Mum Koula Gilbert said: “I am so very proud of her that she felt strongly enough to use her lunch hour at school to put pen to paper and write a letter to the PM.

“I am not sure it is an interest in politics at such a young age, rather a compassionate, common sense understanding of right and wrong, truth and lie and of the very real impacts that decisions up high can have on the lives of ordinary people.

“If it is an interest in politics that she is displaying here then I have a feeling she has just blown her chances of ever joining the Conservatives one day.”
