A woman is due to appear in court charged with causing the death of a nurse in a car crash.

Veronica Bepe will appear before magistrates in Maidstone next week after she was accused of causing the death of Mildred Matete by dangerous driving on Seven Mile Lane in East Peckham last December.

Mother-of-two Mildred Matete Hlabi, 43, was a passenger in a car travelling to a wake when it collided with a van in East Peckham near Maidstone.

Mildred Matete died last year in a crash in Seven Mile Lane

The Beaver Road, Ashford, resident – who had worked at the William Harvey Hospital and at numerous care homes in the town – was pronounced dead at the scene on December 13.

Three other people were also taken to hospital following the crash.

Bepe, 47, of St Anne's Road, Ashford, is due in Maidstone Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
