Man accused of stealing a Bentley after police chase on A2 near Bluewater Shopping Centre

A police chase on the A2 saw a Bentley, which had been allegedly stolen, found and its driver arrested within half an hour.

The high-value SUV was reported missing shortly after 2.30am on Wednesday (October 2) from a driveway in Snodland.

Within 30 minutes, the Bentley Bentayga was tracked down by patrols on the A2 and chased until it stopped in Darenth Wood Road, near Bluewater Shopping Centre, in Dartford.

Officers searched and seized suspected signal-jamming devices from the car and a 54-year-old, from east London, was arrested for theft of a motor vehicle and going equipped for theft.

According to Autotrader, Bentley Bentaygas starting price from new is £155,555 and the model was named the vehicle-sales company’s best luxury car 2023.

They are fitted with a £7,000 bespoke, sound system created by British manufacturing company Naim Audio.

At around 11pm the previous evening (October 1), police patrols also arrested a man linked to suspicious activity in a Ford Transit.

Officers stopped the van in Lea Road, Sevenoaks, and seized a suspected door opening device, several vehicle keys, car ignition parts, more than £400 in cash and a slingshot.

The 34-year-old driver was taken into custody on suspicion of going equipped to steal and drug driving offences.

Both men have since been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Nearly 2,500 vehicles were reportedly swiped from Kent’s streets last year.

Data from Kent Police shows Ford Transit vans, Ford Fiestas, and Land Rover Discoveries are some of the most targeted with hundreds of drivers registering them as stolen.
