A judge has ordered the arrest of a man who was riding a motorbike when it hit a police officer.

Jordan Stimson, 24, admitted a charge of dangerous driving and driving without a licence or insurance, when he appeared in front of magistrates and was sent to crown court for sentence.

But when Stimson, of St Luke's Close, Whitstable, was due to appear at Maidstone Crown Court he failed to show up and neither was any defence barrister present.

The judge, Recorder Alan Gardner was told that Stimson had failed to meet with a probation officer who would have prepared a report.

His lawyers had also been unable to contact the defendant.

The incident happened on December 9, 2021, when the officer was on duty in New Hythe Lane, near Larkfield village hall.

He directed Stimson, who was riding a blue Suzuki motorcycle to stop but his bike struck the officer and Stimson fled on foot.

The judge ordered his arrest and adjourned sentencing until July 25.
