A BMW is to be destroyed after it was spotted drifting on roundabouts and speeding through red lights.
The vehicle was seen entertaining a crowd in New Hythe Lane, Larkfield, on January 2 as police were responding to concerns over a large gathering of vehicles in the area.
The vehicle drifted over roundabouts all while not displaying number plates and despite officers’ requests to stop, it continued to be driven recklessly.
A chase through Larkfield took place with the BMW’s driver ignoring red lights, driving the wrong way on roundabouts and speeding along residential roads before colliding with a central reservation in Castle Way.
The driver was arrested and later charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop and using a motor vehicle on a road in a condition likely to cause danger or injury.
At Maidstone Crown Court yesterday (July 4), 24-year-old Bradley Powell, from Chads Road, Tilbury, Essex was handed a 10-month suspended sentence, disqualified from driving for a year and the vehicle is to be destroyed.
PC Daniel Goodman said: “This driver showed a total disregard to other road users and members of the public, his selfish actions could have had far more serious consequences.
“We don’t underestimate the impact behaviour like this has on residents and other road users and I would encourage anyone affected to report all incidents to us via the website.”
