Pensioner punched in burglary at Birling Road, Snodland

A woman in her 80s was punched and knocked to the floor by a burglar.

The thief then took off with her jewellery and money.

The aggravated burglary was at Birling Road, Snodland, at 7.20pm on Friday.

The intruder forced his way into the terrified victim's home and demanded money.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "It is reported that he punched the victim in the face, threatened her and demanded cash.

"He is then said to have knocked the woman onto the floor before leaving her home with money and jewellery."

A neighbour found the victim and reported the burglary.

Detectives have since carried out house-to-house enquiries and are reviewing CCTV in the area.

Officers want witnesses to come forward and believe there was a woman running along the road at the time of the incident.

They say she may have passed the suspect when he was outside the front of the house and could have vital information.

The suspect is described as being white, short, medium to large build and in his late 30s, possibly early 40s.
