Fire crews tackled a car that was described as 'well alight' on the M20 this afternoon.
Services were alerted to the incident directly under the flyover for the A228, between junctions 4 and 5, shortly after 3pm today.
Only the one car was involved in the blaze - the cause of the fire is currently unknown.
Luckily, the passenger managed to get out of the vehicle safely.
The car remained on the hard shoulder of the London-bound carriageway for the duration of the fire.
Traffic did build-up when the vehicle was burning.
Kent Highways and police also attended the incident which was cleared at around 3.56pm today.
The vehicle was described as 'non-savable' by Kent Fire and Rescue Service.
Traffic is still slow moving, motorists are advised to approach to with caution.
