Plans for a new 85-bed care home on the site of a former oil depot have been unveiled.
The proposal is based on an acre plot in Aylesford, bordering Station Road and Bridge Place.
It was previously an oil depot belonging to William Cory and Son, but has been vacant since 2009.
In May 2010 planning permission was granted for a housing development of 14 homes but it was never implemented.
The current scheme is for one long building in the centre of the pitch three-storeys high with two underground parking crofts.
There would be a total of 32 parking spaces plus room for an ambulance and a minibus.
The site lies just north of the railway line.
The existing access is adjacent to the level crossing in Station Road, but that will be stopped up and a new access created from Bridge Place, a small residential cul-de sac.
However the idea has not gone down well with residents who are worried about additional parking in their close and added traffic movements - which the applicant's agents estimate will be just shy of 100 journeys each way every day.
An ecological study of the area has revealed a few slow-worms on site, and some overflying by various bat species.
The application can be viewed on the Tonbridge and Malling council's website here by searching for the reference 23/00446.
There have been 13 letters of objection.
The applicant, Dewmist Care Homes, says the proposal will generate around 65 jobs, some full-time and some part-time, and will also help meet a major shortfall of care home accommodation in the area.
