Snodland: Cars destroyed in suspected arson attack in Rocfort Road car park

Two vehicles were destroyed and three damaged following a suspected arson attack overnight.

Firefighters were called to a residential car park in Rocfort Road, Snodland, shortly before 11.15pm yesterday.

Two crews attended but found a Vauxhall van and VW Golf had been completely destroyed by fire.

Three further vehicles, a Ford Focus, a Vauxhall Vivaro and one that couldn't be identified, were seriously damaged.

Emergency crews from Larkfield and Strood spent almost 40 minutes bringing the fire under control.

The cause of the blaze was thought to be suspicious and a police investigation has been launched.

A fire service spokesman said: "Crews used breathing apparatus and hose reel jets to bring the fire under control."

A police spokesman added: "It is reported that the cause of the fire may be suspicious and officers are investigating the circumstances."
