Person taken to hospital by air ambulance helicopter following crash on A228 in Five Oak Green, Paddock Wood

A person has been taken to hospital by air ambulance following a crash involving two vehicles.

They collided on the A228 in Five Oak Green, near Paddock Wood, shortly after midday.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 12.25pm on Tuesday, September 19, to a collision involving two vehicles on the A228 Whetsted Road, near Tonbridge.

"Officers and medical crews attended and two people were treated for injuries.

"One of them has been taken to a London hospital by air ambulance."

The incident led to the A228 being closed in both directions between the B2160 Maidstone Road and B2017 Badsell Road roundabout.

Drivers were still facing delays on the the A21 southbound – between the A228 and the junction with the A262 – at 4.30pm.

The ambulance service was also contacted for more information.
