It is understood to have happened between 6pm on Tuesday and 9am on Wednesday (October 23).

A substantial amount of damage was caused to the property and a cash register containing money was taken.

Officers investigating the incident have now released a CCTV image of a dark-coloured Land Rover Discovery they suspect to be involved in the incident, in addition to a picture of a man they would like to speak to.

Centre manager James Davis said: “This is our second burglary this year. Incidents like this are costly, both in terms of money and staff time.

“While insurance will cover some of those costs, we have to pay an excess and it also impacts our premiums.

“The centre is a hub for local people who come here to enjoy family days out, bird-watching and the nature trails.

“It is a valuable asset for local people and sadly they have now had their visits disrupted while we carry out repairs.”

Anyone who recognises the man or vehicle, or has information that may assist enquiries, is urged to call the West Kent appeals line on 01622 604100, quoting reference 46/179727/24.
