Commuters faced slight delays this morning after a lorry hit a bridge in East Malling.
Southeastern say services on the Maidstone East line were disrupted for a short time after the vehicle hit the bridge in the High Street, near to the rail station.
A later Tweet about the incident, from Southeastern, said the line was blocked and engineers were on their way to check for structural damage.
Motorists were also being warned to take care while driving along the road after the impact left one of the bridge height restrictions signs hanging precariously.
Warnings were posted on a local Facebook group saying: “Please take care when driving up the high street by the bridge as a lorry has hit the height restriction sign and it is hanging down.
"It has been reported.”
However, shortly before 9am the bridge had been inspected and was deemed fine and services resumed shortly afterwards.
A spokesman for police said officers were called out to the area shortly before 7am to reports the bridge had been hit and the officers referred the matter over to Network Rail.
