A multi-vehicle crash brought part of the M20 motorway to a standstill for hours.

Emergency services, including the Fire Brigade, were called to J4 for Leybourne/Snodland on the coastbound carriageway.

The accident happened at around 6.30pm and traffic caught up in the aftermath of the collision was not released until around 8.20pm.

Other vehicles were diverted via the exit and entry slips at the junction, causing long delays.

Emergency services remained at scene at 8.30pm and two lanes of the carriageway were still closed.

Highways England says there are still 'severe delays' of nearly an hour on approach to the scene.
