Firefighters needed breathing apparatus to tackle a blaze in a house in Edenbridge.
They arrived at the scene, in Lingfield Road, to see smoke billowing from the terraced property.
It happened at around 6.45pm and such was the severity it took crews in two fire engines until 7.20pm to put out the blaze.
A specialist ventilation fan was then used to clear smoke and fumes from the house.
A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “The cause of the fire is not yet known and there are no reports of any casualties at this stage.”
