It is thought they are likely to have been in the box for some time.

They have now been transferred to a wildlife rescue in Kent where they are recovering

They are believed to be domestic pets despite not being ringed or tagged and will be rehomed unless an owner comes forward.

RSPCA inspector Kirsten Ormerod, said: “They are tame and they are very pretty birds with nice feathers, so it is so sad they have been left in this way.

“Thankfully, they were spotted and we are always extremely grateful to members of the public who take action to help animals and the birds are now receiving excellent care at a specialist wildlife centre.

“We are appealing for information as they were just abandoned in the park.”

Anyone with any information about the doves is asked to call the RSPCA on 0300 1238018 quoting 01330582.
