Details of the latest batch of parking restrictions planned for residents in Tonbridge and Malling have been revealed.

They include changes that affect residents in Snodland and in Tonbridge.

Noting that “parking provision and management is a key part of maintaining the free flow of traffic on the roads,” the council’s director of street, leisure and technical services, Robert Styles, has set out the following proposals:

• Double yellow lines in Hermitage Lane in Aylesford, near McDonald’s; around the junction in Wye Road in Borough Green; near the junction at Scott Close in Ditton; and in Temple Way in East Malling, by the footpath from Owen Close.

• More double yellow lines are proposed for The Rocks Road in East Malling near Paris House; at Kingfisher Road in Larkfield, near Magpie Close; in Lunsford Lane in Larkfield, near No. 371; outside No. 17, The Street, Plaxtol; in Woodgate Road, Ryarsh, near the junction with Roughetts Road; and at Upper Green Road in Shipbourne.

• In addition, double yellow lines are proposed for five sites in Snodland and four in Tonbridge.

• In Snodland, they are at Brook Lane (near No 38), May Street, Booth Close, Charles Close, and Holly Hill.

• In Tonbridge, they are at Chiltern Way, Douglas Road, West Rise and College Avenue.

There will also be discussions about bringing in a residents’ parking scheme to cover Wye Road, Annetts Hall, Tolsey Mead and Eaglestone Close in Borough Green, and in Hallsfield Road, Walderslade.

All the changes have been suggested by residents or by ward councillors, and in one case, by Urbaser, the refuge collection company.

The new restrictions will be submitted to members of the Joint Transportation Board for comment, on Monday (December 2).

They will all be put out for public consultation in January of next year, before any schemes are implemented.
