A man in his 90s was taken to hospital following a house fire.

Three crews were called to Basted, near Borough Green at 10.30pm yesterday, where the blaze had taken hold of part of the home as well as two cars on the driveway.

Police also attended and a man was transferred into the care of paramedics who took him to hospital suffering the effects of smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.

Crews left the scene at 12.40am.
