Flames pouring from the back of an electric cooker sparked an emergency call to Kent Fire and Rescue this afternoon.

Crews raced to a house in Alma Road, Eccles, shortly before 4pm after the alarm was raised and promptly dealt with the incident.

Following the incident, fire prevention officers renewed their appeal to homeowners to check they have working smoke alarms in their properties.
