The family of an East Malling mum given just six months to live are trying to make her dreams of a fairytale wedding day come true.
Asher Arnold, 34, was initially diagnosed with cancer last year, and thought she had overcome the disease when surgeons removed her breast.
But after experiencing pain in her shoulder over Christmas, she was suddenly told recently the tumour had in fact spread further to her liver, spine, bones and both lungs - and that it was now terminal.
As she tries to work out how to break the devastating news to her four-year-old daughter, Kyler, Miss Arnold insisted she finally wanted to marry her partner of eight years, Trevor Seager, who she got engaged to in 2012.
The pair have now agreed to tie the knot at Larkfield Priory Hotel - where she worked before the illness struck - on Friday, March 30.
Her sister-in-law, Tracy Shaw, has led the campaign to raise as much money as possible for the couple’s special day, and an online GoFundMe page has already collected more than £2,700 in donations.
They have also had offers of help from DJs, make-up artists, photographers and even people offering to donate their own wedding dresses.
Mr Seager, a painter and decorator, said: “The generosity has just been incredible - at such a difficult time it restores some of your faith in people.
“It’s definitely given us something to look forward to, and I think it’s taken Asher’s mind off things, but it’s really hard, I don’t know how I’m going to explain it to my little girl when the time comes.”
The family have also organised a charity football match in Orpington next month, to ensure all costs are met for the big day.
Mrs Shaw added: “Asher’s been very positive about it all, I think it’s keeping her going.
“It’s been overwhelming to see so many generous people helping, but we’re still some way off putting the day together.
“I just want her to have as normal a wedding day as possible.”
