Friends of a boy who died of a rare type of cancer, aged just seven, came together for a 'moonlit walk' in his memory.
A group of 45 children completed the 8km route around Ditton and East Malling, on Friday October 21, to mark the anniversary of Jared's death.
Jared, from East Malling, was diagnosed with soft tissue cancer rhabdomyosarcoma in 2019 when he was four, and sadly passed away last year, a month after his seventh birthday.
Children braved wind and rain on the walk, but were cheered on by supporters who came outside their homes to hand out chocolates.
Jared's old headteacher and staff from Ditton Infant School waved them off at the start, while members of St James the Great Church also came out as the group passed to hand out sweets.
The children were kept safe and visible on the walk thanks to two Kent businesses.
High vis jackets were donated from East Malling business CCS Trading Ltd, and torch hats were donated by Aylesford business Blu-3.
The walk finished at Ditton Community Centre, where Jared's memorial bench was decorated in glow up balloons and fairy lights, and the children were given medals from Jared's parents Sonya and Andy.
So far, the charity walk has raised more than £4,200, smashing the children's £800 target.
All proceeds go to the Taylor Made Dreams charity which offers support to children with terminal illnesses and their families.
