It's not often a social media post goes viral because of an everyday act of kindness.
But for Tesco worker, Jake Squire, his compassionate attitude towards a blind pensioner known only as 'Steven' provoked an outpouring of praise when a customer posted on the supermarket's Facebook page.
The 20-year-old said: "Steven comes in quite regularly and I always help him. I would go above and beyond to help anyone out but I'm just doing my job."
Jake has worked at the Edenbridge branch for two years and Steven has been a customer throughout that time.
The former Hugh Christie Technology College student said it felt 'surreal' when he became aware of the positive response.
He said: "My old manager from Specsavers said he'd seen the post and when I looked it had been liked 1,000 times, when I came down in the morning it was 2,000.
Today the post has received 3,700 likes and it has been shared nearly 300 times.
The original post came from customer Karen Sparkles, who posted the message yesterday evening.
"Hi Tesco, just to let you know that your employee Jake at the Edenbridge branch is a total star" - Karen Sparkles
She wrote: "Hi Tesco, just to let you know that your employee Jake at the Edenbridge branch is a total star.
"Not only is he always friendly; today I watched him walk a blind man all around the store, talk him through the various offers and options, take him through the till and generally be a very caring and compassionate young man. It was a joy to watch."
Shaun Easton wrote: "So nice to read something positive on Facebook, well done fella for being a normal human, let's hope others learn by your example and see people, not their disabilities."
Despite the praise Jake, who lives in Commerical Road, remains grounded.
He said: "I haven't done this for attention. I love helping Steven he is a wonderful man and he is definitely a regular - my other colleagues always help him too."
