A helicopter was called in to help in the search for a driver who crashed into a sign in Burham last night.

The collision is reported to have involved a van and a road sign in New Court Road at 9.25pm.

Following this, the driver of the vehicle is reported to have left the scene before police arrived and a search of the area, which received assistance from the National Police Air Service, took place.

He was eventually located safe and well.
