Family and friends will be holding a moonlight walk in memory of a two-month old baby who died of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
Premature Olive Susan Devall’s sudden death left her family heartbroken after mum Rachel woke to find her daughter unresponsive.
Olive, who was born eight weeks early at Tunbridge Wells Hospital on April 24, died on July 1.
She and her family were part of the gypsy and traveller community and lived at Coldharbour caravan site in Aylesford.
Mum Rachel Devall said: “She was rushed to Pembury Hospital where it was discovered she had suffered cardiac arrest. They worked on her for six hours and at this time we had to make the decision to end Olive’s life support as there was nothing they could do for her.
“She was 100% brain dead and all of her organs had closed down. Every second she was on life support she was becoming more and more critical.”
Hundreds of people lined the streets for Olive’s funeral, which took place on August 9.
The five-mile walk is taking place on Saturday, October 14, and will start at the family home in Aylesford at 4.30pm and end at Snodland cemetery, where Olive is buried.
All donations will go to The Lullaby Trust, which raises awareness of SIDS, provides expert advice on safer sleep for babies and offers emotional support for bereaved families.
Rachel continued: “SIDS is an absolute nightmare, the pain it causes to families, and worst of all is there is just no answer to what it is or how it can be treated.
“Every donation really does make a difference into more researching and helping even more families in devastating and heartbreaking times like me and my family have recently gone through and are still going through.
“My baby Olive had such a rough to start to her life, being born eight weeks and three days early and having to spend the first five weeks of her life in hospital on the neonatal ward.
“In the short nine weeks and six days of her life, baby Olive showed nothing but courage and bravery. Her passing away has absolutely destroyed us mentally and emotionally. Every donation is greatly appreciated.
“Everyone is welcome to come and join in even if the whole walk is too much, you are all more than welcome to join closer to the finish line or even wait for us at the cemetery.”
