Residents in Birling were been left with no running water after a pipe burst.

South East Water has said people may experience very low pressure or no water at all after the burst in Snodland Road.

The company's distribution manager Martin Davis, said the burst happened on a large 10-inch diameter water main around 2.30am.

He added: "By 4am this had been found and repair work began.

"For a short period, a number of properties in the area either had no water or low pressure following the burst."

Technicians managed to change the flow of water around the underground network of pipes to restore supplies to the majority of customers.

While this was taking place around 35 customers were without water until the pipeline was fixed.

Mr Davis added: "The repair has now been completed and supplies to the remaining 35 properties are being restored.

"I would like to thank our customers for their patience and co-operation while we worked to repair the problem and apologise for any inconvenience caused."
