A village in Kent had the highest recorded temperature in the UK for the past three days.
East Malling reached 26.1C today in what experts described as an “unseasonable” hot spell of weather.
According to the Met Office, the last time the country saw three consecutive days of 25C at this time of year was in October 2011.
It said the weather is considered “unusually warm” for this time of year.
However, October’s “Indian Summer” is now set to come to an end as temperatures return to normal across the county.
According to the Met Office there will be mist or fog to start Tuesday before clearing to hazy sunshine late morning.
However, there will be sunny spells and it will feel very warm again by the afternoon but with a more noticeable breeze than recent days and a maximum temperature of 24C.
The outlook for the rest of the week is less warm with heavy rain spreading eastwards on Wednesday, before clearing overnight and then some patchy rain on Thursday and further rain likely on Friday, turning heavy at times.
