Drivers faced miles of queues after a crash on a major route.

One lane of the M20 coast-bound between junction 4 for Leybourne and junction 3 was closed due to a crash.

As a result, five miles of queues were backing up traffic to the Swanley interchange and along the M26.

National Highways posted on social media advising motorists to allow extra time for their journeys, which at one point had delays of up to an hour.

The road has since reopened and delays have cleared.

No details of any injuries have been released by the emergency services.
