An accident on a busy motorway caused delays this evening.

Two lanes on the M20 were closed due to an incident on the coastbound carriage way between J3 (M26) and J4 (Leybourne and Snodland).

Traffic was released, however, lanes three and four remained closed for some time.

One witness said: "It looks like a black car in the fourth lane was involved.

"Police and ambulance are at the scene."

At 7pm, National Highways South-East said recovery had been arranged and was en-route.

They said there was a 25-minute delay on the approach with 3.5 miles of congestion.

Traffic reports at 8.40pm said the motorway was now clear.
