An air ambulance, paramedics and police officers were called to reports of a brawl in Pratling Street at around 8.20pm yesterday.

The helicopter landed in a field behind the property, which is in a rural back road linking Aylesford village and Blue Bell Hill.

Norman May, 84, who has lived in the street for 82 years, said: "I have never seen anything like it. There was about 10 people fighting in the street. I heard the commotion and it reminded me of what it was like in the war.

"I'm still so shocked this has happened outside my home."

A second man, reportedly in his 30s and from the area, left the scene and the National Police Air Service helicopter was used to help search for him. He was not found and inquiries into the incident are ongoing.

The men are thought to be known to each other. A knife is believed to have been used but has not been recovered.

The road was shut for around three hours while officers investigated the incident.

Neighbours said they saw dog units searching the area.
