The 52-acre park was once part of an 18th century country estate and has wildflower meadows, woodland and a lake, as well as a cafe and play area.

It is currently owned by Kent County Council (KCC).

The incident is believed to have happened last Wednesday (May 31) and Thursday overnight.

Images show the equipment taped off, with one of the items completely missing.

A message on their Facebook page said: “We've had a set of swings cut off last night, if anybody ever sees anything suspicious in the park please let us know.”

The following day it went on to say: “More damage to our play area last night, our spinner has had its three metal poles broken off, we believe someone is trying to take the metal.”

A spokesperson from KCC said: “Two swings were taken and the spinner damaged – the police have been informed.

“These items are out of order and taped up until they can be replaced, but the rest of the play area is open.

“We estimate it will be up to eight weeks for replacement parts to be delivered and installed, and the cost is estimated at £1,500.”

Police have been contacted for a comment.
