Construction has begun on the latest housing development at Kings Hill, once home to West Malling Airfield.
Property developer Bellway has started work after gaining planning consent for the next phase of development, which will be known as Liberty Quarter, and will provide 52 houses ranging from two to four-bedrooms.
Bellway managing director Chris Moore said: "These homes in Kings Hill will be perfect for anyone who is seeking a rural lifestyle in a well-connected and accessible location with good transport links.
"Situated just a 20-minute car journey from Maidstone, Kings Hill offers beautiful scenery and a strong sense of community without compromise on convenience and practicality.”
The first homes at Liberty Quarter are due to go on sale later this year.
The development will form the latest phase of Bellway’s involvement at Kings Hill project, where more than 3,500 homes and a range of community facilities have been delivered since work began in 1990.
Construction work is continuing at the 70-home Lysander Fields development, while plans are already in place for Bellway to build three further developments including 210 homes at De Havilland Place, 70 homes at Jubilee Place, and another 70 homes at The Retreat, which will bring Bellway's total contribution to 472 new homes.
Some of the properties at Lysander Fields are already for sale, at prices starting from £292,995.
