Wood-burning stove sets fire to garden shed in Bull Lane, Eccles

An ember escaping from a wood-burning brazier started a blaze in the garden of a home in Eccles last night.

An adjacent shed, fence and pile of rubbish all caught fire.

Two appliances from Kent Fire and Rescue Service attended the incident in Bull Lane that was reported at 6.55pm and used a hose reel jet to put the fire out.

There were no reported injuries.

Following this fire, KFRS has re-issued advice urging people to take care when having controlled fires at home.

Make sure the fire is at a distance from all buildings, sheds, fences or vegetation, and keep an eye on it at all times to ensure it doesn't get out of control.

The firefighters also suggest keeping a bucket of water or hosepipe nearby in case of emergency.
