A parcel delivery company is opening a new depot in Kent, creating 15 new jobs.
DX said its new base at St Michaels Close, in Aylesford, was ideally placed, with easy connections to both the M2 and M20.
The depot is part of the company’s continuing expansion of its parcels service; other divisions within the business offer a courier service and logistical services.
The 1.3-acre site takes the number of DX Express depots to 42, with eight opened last year. Elsewhere in Kent, DX has depots in Maidstone, Rochester, Swanley and Dartford.
Paul Ibbetson is the company’s chief executive. He said: “We are pleased to add this new depot near Maidstone to our DX Express division as part of our continued investment in the business.
“The new depot will enhance our position in the South East, increasing the capacity and capability of our parcels operation.
“It will deliver further efficiencies to our operations and provide local customer service benefits - a priority for the group.
“It will also lower carbon emissions by reducing stem mileage.
“We look forward to integrating this new depot into our existing network and continually improving the service offering that we provide to our customers.”
The firm said the new depot would create 15 jobs directly and another 15 indirectly, mainly local drivers.
The DX Group was established in 1975 as a Document Exchange service to the legal sector, but now provides one of the widest ranges of overnight delivery services in the UK market.
It operates through two divisions, DX Freight and DX Express.
DX Freight provides an overnight delivery service for irregular dimensioned and overweight freight.
