A McDonald's and Costa Coffee drive thru could be coming to Snodland.
Proposals have been submitted to develop the fast food facilities on land at Vantage Point North, off Holborough Road.
The scheme, which also involves the construction of four warehouse units, would create some 314 jobs across the site, including 56 at the drive thrus.
However, there has been much local opposition to the plans, with more than 20 objections lodged with Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council.
Concerns primarily revolve around high levels of traffic and pollution, with some demanding construction of an underpass or footbridge to give safe access to those living in Holborough Lakes.
Project chiefs, however, insist the scheme will also encourage journeys on foot and by cycle, with a separate pedestrian-only entrance being provided next to the proposed McDonald's unit.
Others argued there is already McDonald's drive thru facilities nearby, such as those in Aylesford and at Medway Valley Leisure Park in Rochester, while those supporting the proposals suggested such facilities were "needed in the community".
Outline planning permission was previously granted on the site in 2012, for the construction of a business park and associated works including landscaping improvements.
Bosses say the site, which has been used for open storage and as a vehicle recovery facility, is not currently being maximised to its full potential.
Update: A partial decision was made in October 2019.
